It was a Farmer’s Market first birthday for Henry, surrounded by family, friends, and fresh food! We couldn’t have asked for a better day to party hard in our front yard for all of Rideau Lakes to see. Luckily it wasn’t the hottest day, and I had been watching the shade move around yard for a solid month now. Needless to say, I knew the exact dimensions of shade each tree produced between the hours of 2-4 because my kids and I are pastey white humans who are afraid to look at the sun! We ate, we sang, we played bocce and croquet, and we showed all our Henry love in the most perfect way. Henry was soaking in all

Here we are again, at the end of strawberry season. I’m sad to say, we almost missed it completely, however, we were lucky they hung on for one more humid July week. We were away on family vacation in the east coast last week. The strawberries hadn’t started there, but they were in full bloom (if that’s what you call it) at home. Our mouths were watering at the thought of fresh strawberries right from the fields, but we couldn’t find anything!  Last year Olive and I went picking before Henry arrived. It was the first time either of us had been. (I know, I was deprived!) and now I think it has officially become tradition. Last year Olive and I

Dear Henry, I love our Monday morning routines. Mondays are our day. We have our routine that I never want to give up. We wake up early and drop big sister off a daycare and then we head over to the beautiful town of Perth to this perfect little coffee shop. I order a Café Mocha with Peppermint and we settle in on the big comfy couch. We cuddle and play and look at the ever-changing paintings on the wall. I nurse you. You fall asleep. I bundle you up and let you rest on the couch. While you sleep, I work. Your peacefulness inspires my writing. We stay for a few hours, talking with different people every day. It’s

Dear Olive, You are so thoughtful. If I could ask for anything in this world, it would be a hug from you. You are noticing other’s emotions and lending your warm embrace if you feel it will help. Your thoughtfulness and caring nature make me so proud. I get a comforting feeling when you ask if I’m sad. You give me the biggest, tightest hugs and tell me how much you love me. You make my world such a better place. I couldn’t have asked for a better big sister. You are so gentle and so kind to your little brother. You light up each other’s worlds when you are together. Sitting back and watching your bond grow is so

Do you get all tingly when you find the perfect subscription box? One that sends things to you monthly that you can actually see yourself using… Only to add it to your cart and realize that they do not ship to Canada?  Yes. This has happened to me. Many times. But not this time! I stumbled upon a new baby subscription box, Wee Nation. Not only do they ship to Canada, the box is filled to the brim with all Canadian made products from creative entrepreneurs across this beautiful country of ours! I cannot stress how happy I am to know that this little box is supporting so many wonderful Canadian makers. The moment my first box arrived, I immediately fell in

Christmas seemed to creep up in a weird way this year. I had all the time in the world to get ready, but no time at all. The thought of a green Christmas wasn’t encouraging and it took me forever to dig out the decorations. It felt like buy the time we got the decorations out, it was time to put them away. Just like that, Christmas was here and then gone again.  I find myself holding on to the thought of Christmas. Now that we have snow, I feel like I’m ready for it… But it is already long gone!  For now, I watch my little Vlog on repeat and pray that we have snow next year! (Refresh your
